Fried Snacks Flange Gasket
"Improved seal performance results in a safer and more efficient production process"
the challenge
A major Food & Beverage manufacturer had continuous issues with sealing hot oil in their food fryers.
A polymerised vegetable oil build-up occurred on the flanges, which caused an unpleasant mess, posed a significant fire risk, and delayed maintenance operations.
The first challenge was making sure that the sealing material was compliant with EN1935 and FDA standards, and secondly, it was to ensure that the gaskets perform properly under difficult conditions presented by not only high oil temperatures but also other aggressive chemicals used in cleaning cycles.
the solution
During a thorough collaboration and discussion with the customer's engineer, it was decided that the best solution was to implement GYLON® Style 3504 gaskets. The reasoning behind this was that the modified PTFE configuration would offer compatibility to both mechanical and chemical requirements of the process and fulfil the necessary level of compliance to industry standards. In addition to that, a full training programme (including installation training and trouble-shooting advice) was provided in order to ensure that the continuous operation of the product remained both, safe and efficient.
the result
The customer has now put into practice GYLON® Style 3504 across several production sites and is appreciating the benefits of a safer and more efficient sealing gasket product.
