Any water fitting that either carries or receives water from the UK mains water supply must comply with the standards of the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations or Scottish Byelaws. A way to demonstrate this requirement is to have the fitting WRAS Approved.

The requirement for a WRAS approved fitting is that it should not cause waste, misuse, undue consumption or contamination of the water supply and must be ‘of an appropriate quality and standard’.

The WRAS approval is granted and accepted by all the representatives of the water suppliers in the UK.
