Split Seals

The sealing solution for the heavy plant and machine applications

Developed primarily for applications where the presence of flanges or abutments prevent the fitting of seals along the shaft or in a case where the use of a continuous seal is prohibitive due to the high strip down costs. The Split Seal is a plain moulding with a separate coiled garter spring which must be joined around the shaft and fitted to the seal prior to assembly into its housing.

Split Seals are normally used for large diameter rotating equipment where access to the seal is difficult, or where costly downtime must be minimized e.g. marine drive shafts, rolling mill equipment, gearboxes for mining, quarrying and off-highway applications.
