Silfix® U9 Silicone Sealant

M Barnwell Services supply a range of Silfix® Silicone Sealants, designed for the professional user. Silfix® U9 is widely regarded as one of the best low modulus silicone sealants available. Conforming fully to the requirements of BS 5889 Type A and ISO 11600 classification G-25-LM, and offers outstanding performance across a wide variety of glazing, industrial and construction applications.

Uses Of Silfix® U9:

  • For sealing joints between GRP panels and roof sheets, trims and flashing in roofing and cladding, PVC-U, aluminium, steel, timber frame and door surrounds, and wall tiling
  • Many forms of expansion/construction joints in buildings
  • Sealing joints in general industrial applications such as those found in heating & ventilation, sectional buildings, caravans etc
  • For capping and bedding of glass and insulating glass units in bead glazing systems
  • For sealing glazing plastics such as polycarbonate

Silfix® U9 Silicon Sealant can be used in a variety of industries including; Automotive, Bus, Truck & Trailer, Nuclear and Manufacturing

Sealant Properties:

Application temperature range: +5°C to +40°C
Curing rate: Cures at a rate of 2-3 mm in 24 hours at 23°C @ 60% RH. Lower temperatures and drier conditions will result in a slower rate of cure
Shelf life: 12 months
Skinning time: Skin forms after approximately 30 minutes at 20°C @ 60% RH
Working time: Approximately 15 to 20 minutes depending on conditions

Performance:

Adhesion: Excellent unprimed adhesion to glass or glazed surfaces, coated metals, brick, natural stone, PVC-U, polycarbonate and coated timber
Base technology: Silicone polymer
Chemical resistance: Excellent to dilute acids and alkalis
Curing system: Neutral cure (liberates methanol)
Hardness (Shore A 25°C): 18-22
ISO 11600 classification: G -25-LM
Mould resistance: Does not contain a fungicide
Movement accommodation: ± 25%
Paintability: Not recommended
Service life (predicted): 20+ years
Service temperature range: -50°C to +100°C
Shrinkage: < 5%
Specific gravity, approx: 1.01g/cm3 , 1.5g/cm3 (C)
Slump: Nil
Staining: Nil on most surfaces
Tensile modulus (100% elongation): < 5%
Tack free Time: 35 minutes (23°C 50% RH)
