Silfix® U7N Silicone Sealant

M Barnwell Services supply the full range of Hodgson Silfix® Silicone Sealants, designed for the professional user. Silfix U7N is a low modulus, alcoxy cure silicone sealant and adhesive that possess exceptional tooling properties. Suitable for use in sanitary and plumbing applications for industrial, commercial and domestic applications where a highly elastic product that does not shrink or crack is required. Excellent adhesion is achieved to variety of non-porous substrates including; glass, ceramics, aluminium and painted timber, with the added benefit of containing a fungicide and no strong odour.

  • Odourless -Non acetoxy or oxime-based cure with reduced H&S issues
  • Good tooling and application characteristics
  • Cures to form a durable weatherproof seal flexible at low and high temperatures
  • Good adhesion to a wide variety of surfaces including PVC-U, coated timber, brickwork, concrete, GRP, stainless / galvanised steel, aluminium and lead

Uses Of Silfix® U7N:

  • Sealing around baths, basins and shower trays
  • Sealing between dissimilar materials such as; uPVC, aluminium, composite and timber frames into masonry, brick and plaster walls
  • Most Sanitary Applications
  • Waterproofing of rimless sinks
  • General sealing and caulking applications Connection joints of plumbing fixtures and ceramic tiles

Silfix® U7N Silicon Sealant can be used in a variety of industries including; Food & Drink, Water & Gas, Earth Moving & Construction, and Pharmaceutical.

Sealant Properties:

Application temperature range: +5°C to +40°C
Curing rate: Cures at a rate of approx. 2 mm in 24 hours at 23°C @ 55% RH. Lower temperatures and drier conditions will result in a slower rate of cure
Shelf life: 12 months
Skinning time: Skin forms after approximately 50 minutes at 23°C @ 55% RH
Working time: Approximately 15 minutes.

Limitations

Do not use for aquaria construction or long-term underwater applications
Not recommended for use with low surface energy materials such as: polyethylene, polypropylene and Teflon
Do not use in conjunction with bitumen, asphalt or natural stones
Not suitable for use as a mirror adhesive. The material is not paintable
Do not use in contact with edge sealants of double-glazed units – use Silfix® U9
The priming of surfaces such as concrete and gypsum is recommended for optimum adhesion
