Why do you need Shaft Repair Kits?

Over time, crankshaft wear can become so deep that a new oil seal simply can’t do it’s job, leaving you with a persistent leak. This happens because continuous oscillating and rotating will cause a wear groove on the shaft. In the past, solving this problem required either a total crankshaft replacement or expensive resurfacing, both of which are labour-intensive and costly. Shaft repair sleeves offer a much more efficient alternative, providing a fresh surface in minutes without the need for a total engine dismantling.

How Shaft Repair Kits work:
Shaft Repair Kits consist of a thin-walled stainless steel sleeve designed to be pressed over the end of a shaft and positioned directly over the worn area.

• The Sleeve is slightly smaller than the shaft diameter, creating a high-interference fit. This means it “shrinks” onto the shaft and stays in place through friction alone without the need for glue or heat.
• The outer surface is precision-ground to a non-directional finish. This often is a better finish than the original shaft, providing a perfect mating surface for the seal.
• Included is a removable installation flange. You use a provided tool to tap the sleeve into place; once seated, the flange can be peeled away if it interferes with other components.
