Styrene-Butadiene Rubber – SBR Seals

M Barnwell Services supply a range of Styrene-Butadiene (SBR) Seals in Metric and Imperial sizes. SBR is a general-purpose synthetic rubber that has very similar properties to Natural Rubber (NR). It is also known as Buna-B.

There are over 50 million O rings and Back-up Rings in stock, serving all industries, including Automotive (PPAP available), MRO, and Water & Gas (WRAS WRc).

SBR Seals

M Barnwell Services SBR Seals have:

  • Good bonding and wear characteristics
  • Heat-ageing properties
  • Excellent abrasion resistance and strength
  • Good compression set and gas permeability
  • Good water resistance

SBR fatigue resistance is low and it is susceptible to oxidative and thermal degradation. Degradation usually happens via cross-linking, this then leads to embrittlement (increase in stiffness). Therefore, it is not recommended for exposure to petroleum oils, most hydrocarbons, strong acids or ozone. If you need a different solution the experienced team can help.

Typical applications for SBR Seals include conveyor belts, shoe soles and heels, car tyres (except for truck tyres), roll coverings, drive couplings, adhesives, and haul-off pads.
