O Ring Lube – why and when to use
In many applications, there is a need to minimize the frictional forces created by a seal. The simplest way to reduce this is to use an O Ring Lubricant. M Barnwell Services provides a barium base petroleum grease O Ring Lube agent fit for that purpose.
Our O Ring Lube (available in various sizes) can be applied to the surface of the O Ring reducing abrasion, pinching, and cutting during installation and assembly.
When applied the O Ring Lube sits on the surface of the seal and can be removed by cleaning (fluids and solvents). It can also act as a barrier between chemicals and the synthetic rubber seal helping to extend the service life.
Typical applications:
For use with O Ring materials – Polyacrylate (ACM), Vamac® (AEM Ethylene Acrylate), Neoprene (CR), Fluorosilicone (FVMQ), Nitrile (NBR), Hydrogenated Nitrile (HNBR), Polyurethane (AU), Fluorocarbon (Viton® FKM/FPM), Aflas® (TFE/P), Hifluor, and Parofluor (rubber based materials)
Suitable for all plain and anti-friction bearings, sliding surfaces, low-pressure pneumatic systems, and rotary or oscillating surfaces
M Barnwell Services O Ring Lube features and benefits:
- Provides long-term lubrication at high temperatures (-20°F to +300°F)
- Reduced formation of carbon deposits often associated with high-temperature greases
- Good sealing properties protect against the ingress of corrosive contaminants
- Highly compatible with most types of rubber seals
- Water and chemical resistance
