A Family Announcement

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we regret to inform you of the passing of our father, founder, and leader, Michael Ronald Barnwell, on Thursday 14th April 2022. Mike died peacefully following a short illness. We, the family, and all within Barnwell are truly devastated by his death; he has left an unimaginably huge void. However, we are, and will continue to be strong together.

Mike was first and foremost a gentleman and family man; a husband, father, grandfather and brother. But he was also an inspirational leader and entrepreneur with a clear vision.

Mike founded M.Barnwell Services Ltd back in 1972. He was both Managing Director and Chairman; he started and remained very passionate and active within the business throughout his life. He was extremely proud of the company’s achievements and the fact that the business was, this year, celebrating its 50th anniversary.

Mike was a visionary, and from the very beginning wanted to provide customers with a first-class service whilst offering products of quality, with support and reassurance. Above all, he valued people; and understood that developing strong relationships whilst nurturing healthy, productive partnerships formed an integral part of building a successful, profitable company.

Mike was a humble man and always gave time to others; his door was wide open and he would engage with everyone he met. The culture Mike created and nurtured is one of loyalty. As a family business, we are blessed and truly value the remarkable people working within it. Mike’s personality and wisdom are encrusted within the essence, walls, and very foundations of our business.

Missed but never forgotten. The team and family will continue to honour Mike’s legacy, integrity and vision.
